Be True To Your Dreams!!!

Mary Kay Ash

Hello, dear friend!

Happy Labor Day weekend! 

I've been so blessed this week by re-reading parts of Mary Kay Ash's book, "The Mary Kay Way."  On page 116 she tells the story of her dream to build a company to enrich women's lives.  She wanted a company in which with praise and support we can accomplish anything we set our minds to.  She was committed to the standard of the Golden Rule and Priorities of God, Family and career, where there is no age, nationality or educational discrimination.  An opportunity in which if we treat it as a serious business we can make six figures (our highest paid consultant in Mary Kay last year made 1.1 Million!) or grow it part time or spare time for extra money, more confidence, friends and flexibility.
When Mary Kay Ash told her accountant her plans and showed him the financial projections, he said,
"Mary Kay, your commission schedule will never work. It's only a matter of time before you'll be bankrupt!"  Her attorney had the same advice: "Mary Kay, you have no experience in the cosmetics business, and you are  a grandmother.  Don't throw your life savings  ($5,000) away!"
How THANKFUL I am that she did not listen to these "experts!"   I've occasionally wondered how those men felt when she was honored as the "greatest female entrepreneur of all time" and eventually built a debt-free billion dollar company in thirty five counties with two MILLION beauty consultants! 
We must nurture and protect our dreams and be aware that sometimes well-meaning people may give us bad advice.  I well remember a woman at my church telling me that Mary Kay would be a "step down" for me, and that I would "never make a dime!"  I am so glad I didn't listen to her.

On September 13th we will celebrate the 48th Anniversary of Mary Kay Ash's dream company.  What a thrill it is to be a part of it together!  Thanks for your faithfulness and for continuing to "pass it on!"
